Situated in the center of the city, it was built in 1930 – 1932 with support from the parishioners and from the State.

An important part in the construction of the church was played by Iuliu Maniu, Romania’s prime minister at the time. The consecration of the church took place in 1934.

Nowadays, it is used by the Orthodox Church. An important event in the life of the Church is the celebration of its patron each year, when believers from the surrounding villages come in pilgrimage.
