The Jibou Botanical Garden is an attraction for many visitors both from the country and from abroad. It was founded in 1968 at the initiative of the exceptional professor Vasile Fati. At present, it stretches on 25 ha, situated in the Wesselényi ensemble.

Positioned at the altitude of 272 m, surrounded by fairly high hills, protecting it from cold currents, it enjoys a favorable climate that allows the most diverse experiments. The Botanical Garden’s collections contain over 5.000 species of plants coming from different areas of the world.

In the Botanical Garden’s activities, a rich and diverse assortment of ornamental plants is distributed to be used as demonstration material and to decorate parks and schools.

The unit’s staff organizes scientific events, seminars, symposiums, participates in national and international congresses, and collaborates in order to elaborate publications in the country and abroad.

Each year, the Botanical Garden published the seeds and plant samples catalogue, through which the unit maintains an active exchange with more than 450 botanical gardens or other institutions of the same kind in the entire world.
